Harrington School District is seeking qualified candidates for the following position(s) for the 2020-2021 school year:

Position Openings: Certificated PK-12 Counselor

OBJECTIVE: We are looking for a talented individual who will coordinate with students, staff, parents, and community members in providing counseling services to our PK-12 population three to five days a week.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold/qualify for a Washington ESA School Counselor Certificate

SUPERVISOR:Building Principal/Superintendent

DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to work as a team member with administration, teachers, and parents
  • Ability to follow ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Desire and ability to work with individuals and small/large groups for delivery of services
  • Assist high school students with scholarship opportunities and post-secondary planning
  • Work with teachers/advisors and students to establish and maintain the High School and Beyond graduation requirement
  • Meet with 9-12th grade students each semester to discuss credits and graduation requirements
  • Teach Kelso’s Choice (or other conflict management skills) at the elementary level
  • Be the case manager for 504, SST, and Running Start
  • Commitment to Harrington’s PBIS intervention and support model
  • Knowledge of bullying-prevention strategies and programs
  • Experience/Knowledge in trauma invested practices
  • Knowledge of poverty and the impact on academic and social achievement/emotional achievement
  • Understanding of the developmental stages of the PK-12 grade population
  • Demonstrated ability in assessment, consultation, and referral to support agencies as needed
  • Knowledge and ability to work with special needs populations and be part of the Special Education team
  • All other duties as assigned by the administration
